Montague Pianos is a historical fixture on Northchurch High Street. The business was established in 1879, changing hands from Tom Montague to Heckscher Pianos in the 1990’s. Now, musician Lee Chapman has taken the reigns of the business, supported by his family. Lee is an experienced musician and a piano enthusiast, with decades of experience in working in the piano trade. Today’s showroom is an Aladdin’s Cave of pianos, with every instrument hand picked by Lee or one of our technicians. We take pride in our variety and quality. Steinway, Bechstein, Steinmayer, Bluthner and Bentley’s are typically in store, amongst many other quality piano builders. We are a UK representative for Kawai Digital Pianos (Japan) and Sauter Pianos (Germany). Our partnership with Sauter extends to a custom-made piano service. Second hand pianos are assessed and expertly renovated before going on display. All pianos are frequently tuned and ready to play. We take pride in being family friendly, supporting the Arts Council Take it away scheme that makes purchasing a piano more accessible. We were one of only five stores (from over 200 retailers nationwide) to be shortlisted & subsequently became the winner of the 2014 Take it away Retailer of the Year Award, nominated by customers for delivering outstanding service and for going ‘above and beyond the ordinary in supporting music making in the community’. We have built relationships with piano teachers and music organizations throughout the home counties, enabling us to connect our customers to our musical community.
